The latest update of the Forever World Cup Simulator has updated the formats of many continental cup competitions, which now feature expanded structures that include qualifying rounds and playoff stages.

Euro Cup

Since the Euro Cup finals is coming in real life, the first event in the simulator will jump straight to the finals with the same set of teams as in the real-life tournament. However, after you finish the 2026 events, the Euro Cup will include the qualifying playoffs and qualifiers, giving more national teams a chance to earn a spot in the prestigious tournament.

AFCON

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) now includes a preliminary playoff round as well as a qualifying stage before the finals. There is a slight departure from the real-life AFCON format, where the host nation is automatically qualified. In the simulator, the host team needs to truly earn their spot in the qualifiers to advance to the finals.

ASEAN-OFC Cup

The ASEAN-OFC Cup now includes a new preliminary playoff round to determine the 6 qualifiers who will join the top 10 seeded teams in the group stage.

Asia Cup

The AFC Asia Cup has now includes preliminary rounds and qualifiers leading up to the 24-team group stage finals.

OFC Cup

And in the Oceania region, the OFC Cup now features a preliminary round to determine one qualifier to join the higher-ranked 7 teams, which is similar to the real-life format.

While these new formats may not strictly adhere to the real-life continental tournament structures, the new update offers a more engaging and realistic experience. By including more qualifying rounds and playoff stages, this added depth and complexity should make the continental cups even more exciting and unpredictable, as teams battle through the various stages to reach the final showdowns.

While this feature is experimental and requires a lot of clean-up, these leagues run fine and are suitable for casual simulations. Within these leagues, team seeding is determined by their most recent Elo ratings in-game.  An important note is that you need to simulate the league consecutively to retain the integrity of promotion and relegation. New "Post tournament outcome" feature has been released.

The Forever World Cup Simulator has just introduced a new feature called " Post Tournament Outcome " that adds an extra dynamic element to the gameplay. If the game world fails to reach the target of the outcome every year, the metric will go down. Once the metric hits a certain threshold, it will result in a game over, forcing the player to delete the save and start again. Each outcome has an expiration year, and once it has expired, it will no longer be applied to the save. Players can then select a new outcome after the previous one has expired. You can select these outcome on the homepage before you create a new event. The new 24-team World Cup format is now available, which means you can also simulate a Euro 24 tournament. Follow these steps to run a Euro 24 simulation in less than a minute: 1. Choose Germany as the host country. Ignore the red colored warning for now. 2. Set the starting stage to "Group stage". 3. Choose "UEFA" for the "pick hosts from only one confederation" option.
